Alfred Hitchcock Posters Re-Envisioned

Hollywood has been re-making movies a lot over the past few years. Actually, one movie that I’m waiting to be updated is “The Sandlot”. Not because I actually want to see it, but because I will kill for ruining one of the best movies from my childhood. Anyway, there are things we all hold near and dear to our hearts and would never dare mess with them for many reasons. And there are people that would say this very thing about an Alfred Hitchcock film or MOVIE POSTER.

  • About the designer

Enter Laz Marquez. Laz is a forward thinking designer that focuses on entertainment advertising. His work has allowed him the opportunity to work with leading studios on some big films of recent years like X-Men: The Last Stand, The Grand, Miss Potter, Elvis & Anabelle and Goya’s Ghosts.

Most recently, Laz decided to try his hands at re-designing some of Alfred Hitchcock’s most iconic films and has so far received great attention and a positive reaction. Taking on such a project is no easy task. Here is what Laz had to say after he released his first poster for the movie, “The Birds”.

While talking to a co-worker buddy of mine last week, I began discussing the excellence of the Horror Movie Genre and how it’s evolved over the years. One unforgettable filmmaker in this genre is undeniably Alfred Hitchcock, who brought us many top notch films that stand the test of time. It’s pretty tough to deny that moments from ‘Psycho’, ‘Rear Window’ and ‘The Birds’ are still anxiety inducing at best. Throughout this discussion, I spoke to the idea of doing a photography study on taking Horror Movie Posters from the 40′s-80′s and recreating them with a more contemporary styling. Although this is not what this upcoming project would entail, I was inspired to play with one of my favorites by Hitchcock, ‘The Birds’.

In closing

Being a designer myself and a major movie fan, I have to say that he really knocked one out of the park with these posters. I believe that they fit the original films style very well and would be worthy of consideration were these films to be re-released today.

What do you think about these posters? Do you have a favorite? Please leave us a comment and let us know!
